Yesterday will go down as one of the most shameful days in recent Italian history; the Mafia state raided several cities in the south of Italy and seized a Billion Euros worth of Assets. Somewhere in the region of 100 companies were seized, along with farms, houses, cars and even a hotel. All because some career bureaucrats suspected that some of the businessmen had contacts with various mafia clans.
Unfortunately a lot of people in Italy are happy that the state has now resorted to shaking down competing crime syndicates.
The question that everyone should ask is when will this stop! After they have run out of southern Italians with suspected mafia links, will they target anyone of wealth in the south?
Unfortunately these idiots have not through the consequences; during a major recession one billion Euros has been taken out of the almost dead southern Italian economy. People working for these companies have lost their jobs. No will ever want to invest in the south as it is just too risky. What peace that existed between the mafia clans and the state will be broken. The message that this sends, is that the state will steal your assets if you are too wealthy.
one wonders if the State start managing these companies and nationalise the economy in order to protect jobs?
Italy has clearly chosen the path of Haiti and Zimbabwe, under the leadership of Darth Monti.
It is time to leave this cesspool of a country before it is too late!
